Remember….The gifts of Christ to the Church include apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers (Ephesians 4:11), exhorters, administrators, leaders, and helpers (Romans 12: 7, 8). We understand that God's call to these ministry gifts is entirely within His sovereign discretion regardless of gender, race, disability, or national origin. All ordained, licensed, and certified ministers holding current credentialed ministry are authorized to perform the ordinances and ceremonies (priestly functions) of the church, and those who hold a local church credential as provided below. Three ministry classifications are recognized and transferable among all Assemblies of God Districts and the fourth classification of a local church credential as follows:
Those people who show promise of usefulness in Christian service, who are up to biblical standards, and who have met the necessary requirements and have received divine confirmation of their call to current service.
License to preach. Those people who have a divine calling. and I have had some experience in the Lord's work and the purpose of giving
themselves totally to the ministry. They shall demonstrate this purpose by doing such preparation as required by the Executive Presbytery and is actively
engaged in some recognized aspect of ministry full time.
Ordained ministers are those 23 years of age. or older who have met the necessary qualifications, have actively participated as a licensed Minister in some recognized aspect of ministry full-time for at least two consecutive years just prior to ordination, and who have appeared and tested themselves before the Executive Presbytery.
A local church credential may be provided by a local General Church affiliated with and incorporated into the General Council under basic guidelines adopted by the General Presbytery and additional guidelines adopted by this District. The local church credential will not be transferable (limited to the local issuing church) and will be limited to two years (renewable by the local church for an additional two years). A person with a local church credential may perform the ordinances and ceremonies (priestly functions) of the church if they are authorized in writing by the senior pastor of the local church issuing the credential.
To renew your credentials with the district for 2025, please download form and complete before its due deadline. Remember that there are two renewals that must be done: One with SPD that must be done by October 31, 2024. Another with the General Council that must be done by December 15, 2024.
